About JULIA
I grew up with cats and dogs.
My first cat and I were best friends! He would jump up on the fence and meow for me to come over to him. I would stand next to the fence and tap my shoulder. He would carefully take a step down onto my shoulder and stayed perched there as we walked around. What a wonderful, trusting relationship!
Throughout middle, high school, and college, I would pet sit in our neighborhood. My neighborhood customers stayed with me for about a decade. Post-college, friends referred me to pet sit and dog walk. People recognized my love and commitment to their pets.
I trained my dog using gentle obedience training methods, and Coltrane received his Canine Good Citizen certification. I’ve also volunteered with Canine Good Citizen trainers to gain deeper knowledge in gentle obedience practices.
A certified Fear Free ® Pet Sitter. I use evidence-based techniques to care for pets who experience stress, fear, and anxiety. With a deep commitment to empathetic and fear-free techniques, I give your pets the extra support they need to feel comfortable with non-family members. I’m also studying animal behavior coursework through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants to deepen my learning and apply this knowledge continuously. I recently completed a course taught by Professor Susan G. Friedman, Professor Emeritus at USO. I was a BIPOC scholarship recipient and studied Applied Behavior Analysis for Animals, Living and Learning with Animals. I’m also studying at the Karen Pryor Academy and working on courses for Dog Trainers.
With over twenty years of pet sitting and dog walking, I established Awwdorable Pets in 2015. Since then, Awwdorable Pets has focused on providing pets with a loving and caring experience with every visit.
